Its not as easy as you think but watching traditional rice paper making is certainly interesting, you are welcomer to try if you like. A stop at local market before we move on to My Son holy land is also an interesting experience.
About 1.00pm we arrive at My Son sanctuary where we first have lunch. Then we will start our tour of the Sanctuary. Most visitors take about an hour or so to wander through, you can, for a small fee, use a local guide to explain the cultural significance of many of the ruins. The name My Son means "beautiful mountain" and the Hindu ruins are dated to between the 4th and 13th centuries, these ancient towers and temples sit upon emerald hills in the Duy Xuyen District of Quang Nam in central Vietnam. This is a UNESCO World Heritage site and you are free to explore the 71 structures in 8 groupings making up the sanctuary. This is a wonderful example of Vietnam's rich indigenous culture.
Now for the famous HCMT this is truly a magical experience as we climb the mountain the scenery is breathtaking and we will see many interesting people, villages, plantations and great photo opportunities. We stay on the HCMT all the way to Quy Nhon.
It's about 3.00pm so certainly time for a stop at a mountain waterfalls with crystal clear cool water. Another great photo opportunity, there is time for a walk to explore the mountain views, swim or just relax.
After our relax at the waterfall we head on to the small but very old town of Kham Duc, our first night stop. There is plenty of time to explore, relax and talk about the day’s experiences.
Our day starts with breakfast before we continue our journey on the HCMT at 8.00am. We are still heading up the mountain to the Lo Xo Pass, along the way we will see many interesting minority villages where village life hasn't changed for generations.
A bit after 9.00am we take relaxing stop in a beautiful forest at our second waterfall for a morning swim. You will appreciate the peace and serenity of an untouched natural wonderland free from the bustle of commercial tourist attractions.
Our journey is paused for a coffee stop before we go on to see the long communal house of the Xo Dang and Ba Na people, a minority mountain group. You will be surprised by the complex architecture of this ancient traditional house. Take the time to walk through and marvel at its elaborate decorations and the friendliness of the local people.
For those in need of an adrenaline rush, a walk across the wooden Suspension bridge above the river is great fun. Listen to the music of the bridge as you take each step (it's music not creaking wood). We can also take some time to rest and add to your increasing portfolio of memorable photos, enjoy the breathtaking natural scenery and our next minority village stop.
Lunch along the way at an excellent local restaurant will give you a chance to sample more great local dishes.
After lunch we visit a rubber plantation, where you can learn about the traditional method of rubber harvesting.
when we arrive at our evening stop, Kon Tum and before we check in at our hotel we will spend a little time visiting a very old, historic and beautiful wooden Church After checkin it’s time for a cold beer and a chat about our days adventure before dinner at a local restaurant, where the food is great. Vietnamese pancake is especially good.
After breakfast we leave Kon Tum about 8.00am and continue through the exotic central highlands towards our final destination of Quy Nhon on the coast. We mostly travel downwards on good but quiet roads. On today’s journey we will pass farms growing passion fruit, coffee, rubber trees, rice fields grown on terraces just to name a few.
After a relaxed 115km drive from Quy Nhon where we have stopped a few times to look at interesting farms and plantations, an ethnic minority village and of-course our essential coffee stop we reach our lunch stop. Another great local eating experience.
After lunch we continue our leisurely downward trek with beautiful views of the countryside. The views from the An Khe mountain pass are simply stunning. The afternoon drive is about 75km and again we travel at a comfortable speed stopping to stretch, relax and take photos and of course coffee or cool drinks.
We arrive at your hotel in Quy Nhon about 4.00pm. If you are continuing your journey we will happily assist you to buy bus or train tickets for your onward journey. We do recommend though that you stay a night or two as the beach is quite beautiful and the prices of food and accommodation are inexpensive even by Vietnamese standards.
Just Awesome. What a road trip, there was 6 of us in a 16 seat min bus. We had the choice of going down the coast by train or taking this 3 day road trip. Ok, its a little more expensive than just a train ride but what a great experience. We had so much fun and saw some great country, met beautiful people.Thao is a super guide, very helpful and so funny, we really appreciated your efforts Thao, the trip was so good. Highly recommend this trip if your travelling south from Hoi An, especially for groups, the cost is very reasonable and worth every dong.
We came to Vietnam to see the country and this trip was just perfect for that. What we enjoyed the most was the connection with local villagers and seeing how they live, quite idilic really. The roads were good and not too much traffic, I loved that Son stopped the car anywhere we wanted. The mountains are so beautiful and the trip is peppered with interesting stops, I particularly liked the swims in the cool mountain pools as it was pretty hot. I also liked that we had an all inclusive price so we knew exactly how much it was going to cost. The hotels and local lunch spots were all pretty good and great value really. Thank you Son for a great trip, we hoe you do really well in your business, see you again. Highly recommend.
Thanks Son, I know Derek was going to put up a group review but I just wanted to add that this was probably the best tour I have ever done. you guys are terrific. We all had so much fun, couldn’t fault a thing. Just loved the local lunch spots and so good to see so much of Vietnam’s natural beauty. Thanks for keeping the icebox full of ice and drinks. All our group think you and Thào are amazing and we will be sure to recommend Explore My Vietnam to all our friends coming your way
